Excellent Portable Monitor at a Great Value

Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2026 · Color: Matte black · Verified Purchase

I did a lot of research before purchasing a portable monitor and ultimately decided on this MNN 15.6" FHD monitor when it went on sale. After using it, I can honestly say I don't regret the decision at all.

Everything was exactly as advertised. The display is clear and sharp, setup was simple, and it worked right out of the box with my devices. The screen quality is excellent for both productivity and general use, and the portability makes it easy to take anywhere.

For the price, especially on sale, this monitor offers outstanding value. After comparing many options, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable portable monitor.

MNN 15.6" FHD 60Hz Portable Monitor USB-C HDMI IPS HDR Gaming Laptop

This is a very compact screen, for laptop or computer with HDMI connections.

It runs off of power from the computer, it does have a switch to turn on and off through

the electronics. Its not a hard on/off switch.

The color is brilliant and clear, its quality rivals some of the more expensive dedicated monitors.

    SUPPORT IS OUTSTANDING

    one cleavett

This monitor has an auto shut off, it is keyed when the data to the screen is absent, then there is a very short timer

(I think it is for "No Data" that will shut the screen down if data is not restored in that time span.

YOU CAN NOT change that timer span or turn it off. it is programmed in the electronics programming.

    A problem I found was...

when some operating systems start up

when they switch between the computer start up bios to the operating system, there may be a loss of data

    during this switch over.

If that data is gone LONG ENOUGH, it will shut down the screen.

Because the screen loads info on start up, IF you can restart the screen, it does not have the data it needs

to run and display your operating system.

I found in most cases it won't restart after the timer shuts it down.

this does not happen in all operating system start ups, and it may be a programming problem on the part

of the user, but it is something to be aware of.

I will cautiously Recommend this monitor. When it works, it is very good. It is the most convenient portable screen

I have ever used. It is powered by the computer battery so it is extremely portable.

The chance that you may see this shut down problem is low and as I said, it only did this to one of my start up systems.

    I said SUPPORT WAS EXCELLANT.

I turned to them for ideas to the problem of shutdown. I was hoping they knew how to run off the monitor shut down but they said it was in the programming. They responded to me several times as I was struggling to figure out what was going on. I finally figured out what was triggering the shut down but, since I am not a tech guy, I think they didn't believe all I said and may have thought it was a possible problem in the monitor so they send me another one FREE.... But it was the same programming, same concern.

These screens do work on certain operating systems without a problem. I will adjust to those systems when this monitor is being used.

I’m really impressed with this portable monitor. The 15.6-inch Full HD display looks bright and clear, and the colors are beautiful. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and the smart cover makes it convenient to set up anywhere.

The USB-C connection is very convenient, and I love that it can be used as a second screen for my laptop. The built-in speakers are also a nice bonus. Setup was quick and simple, with no complicated installation.

Overall, it’s a great option if you need an extra screen for work, studying, gaming, or traveling. Excellent picture quality, portable design, and easy to use. Highly recommended

For the money, this is VERY hard to beat.

Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2026 · Color: Matte black · Verified Purchase

You know, we're in the era of 4k monitors and there are a number of situations where you very much desire that kind of crisp resolution.. but.. in a 15.6" portable monitor, 1080p is really more than enough at least 98% of the time. The fact that you can get that in a portable monitor for THIS kind of money.. is insane.

    Pros:

    - The transport cover that transforms into the monitor stand (like an old iPad cover) is VERY cool. Makes tossing the monitor into a backpack or a piece of luggage.. something don't even think about.. throw and go.

    - That built-in cover means the total weight of this thing is just a hair over 1.5 lbs. You won't even notice it in your bag.

    - The ease of using USB-C connectivity as a single cable method to drive this thing.. couldn't be more convenient.

    - The ability to support legacy devices via the HDMI interface.. also super simple.

    - The versatility of this thing is just incredible, especially when you remove the cover and discover VESA mounting options.

    - It doesn't go into some panic state when it loses signal, just instantly drops into a power-saving mode and waits for signal to return.

    - Resolution and Refresh are crisp and fast.

    Cons:

    - Really, at this price you can't complain about it not being 4K.. it is full 1080p and doesn't disappoint.

    - While it can be driven via HDMI, it still needs USB-C power in that conviguration. This requires the source to have USB-C power to give it.. if it doesn't.. you need a USB-C power supply.. and one doesn't come with the unit. That's an oversight. They don't even offer it as an option, which is a shame. Honestly, that's all that keeps this from being a 5-star product.

AWESOME FOR: 2nd travel work monitor mainly for document work, for laptop

Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2023 · Color: Matte black · Verified Purchase

It is key to know what you want this for. I'm not a gamer so this review is only from perspective of someone who works on documents all day, logged into an office remotely. So I needed a portable 2nd monitor for when I travel with macbook M1 Air. Must have read 100 reviews and looked at dozens of youtube videos and ultimately concluded for my use case, I did not need 4K, too expensive and unnecessary; and I do not need high refresh rate, but i did want high nits (brightness). Have tested it out only for a short while and so far, subject to any update I will make to this review, here's the good and the one not so terrible "knock":

    THE GOOD:

For my use case, the 60 hertz refresh rate is totally fine. No doubt not ideal for a gamer; if gaming is your need I would look for one that has higher refresh rate of course.

The 1080P is wonderfully sharp - seems like it's better resolution than 1080P but probably just because the screen size is 15.6" so pixel density is still good.

It came with several seemingly very good quality cables and a simple charger plug. Charger plug is USB A so it's not giving tremendous current but evidently it's fine. It also came with USB A to USB C cable for this charger plug to power the thing. It also came with a very nice USB C to USB C cable that plugs into one of the two (2) USB C ports (one under the other) on the left side and the other end plugs into USB C on Mac and it instantly just recognized the video stream and showed it, mirroring my Mac. Mac then lets you select to use it as an extended display. Both USB C ports on left side are labeled as USB C with a lightning bolt. I suspect this means both support the video stream and power into the device; I randomly picked one for the video connection and one for the power connection and it worked find; I suspect this means it doesn't matter which. I read on-line in specs that these USB C ports were on different sides, and only one supported video; this one is configured a little differently and perhaps just slightly updated since they wrote out their specs. NOTE - the USB A charging plug got very warm and the metal of the USB A plug was HOT when I unplugged it - I'm thinking I'm going to plug it in for power to a USB C charger to USB C port on device and see if that gives it the power it needs without heating up; will see... maybe but don't want to give it too much current and cause a problem; will think on that. UPDATE: have now used little anker usb c 20 watt charger plug with usb c to usb c for power and that worked fine and the metal usb plug at the charger did not get hot.

I tested the two speakers on this monitor, having the Mac choose those speakers (all going through the one USB C cable) and the speakers are fine, just not as good as the speakers on the Mac (not really giving base but otherwise clear and sharp with OK volume). But who cares for this use case.

It ALSO came with another seemingly very solid, not cheap, cable that has HDMI MINI on one side, and standard HDMI on the other. I have a USB C to HDMI (standard sized) adapter so I will try that out as well but haven't yet. Left side of the device has the HDMI mini female port for this connection. UPDATE: have now tested the HDMI cable - works fine, zero issues.

Over my enterprise level (CITRIX) connection there were zero issues with recognition of the second screen so, voila, remote working with 2 monitors (Mac screen and this second screen).

The thing has a bit of heft/weight to it but not terrible; maybe a pound and a half in weight. Feels fairly solidly built, not cheap.

Right side has a power on switch and a little "rocker" wheel like the old school volume controls on side of transistor radios; when the monitor came on, I turned the rocker wheel up and it increased brightness to highest level. To me that's a nice direct mechanical capability to up the brightness without having to dig into settings. Naturally I put it to highest level of brightness. But, see below on this topic.

UPDATE: have now also plugged it into iPad (Air 5th gen w/ usb c) and it also works perfectly both to mirror iPad or do center stage allowing a couple windows open on the extended display. Rather awesome.

Finally it comes with a detachable thin case that wraps around it, covering screen when closed; and folded back using magnetic attachment to back of display, it stands at a couple different angles, similar to typical tablet covers that fold around, like on the iPad. Worked just fine.

THE ONE SMALLER "KNOCK" AND A NIT:

Brightness: OK so one of my hoped for criteria was high NITS; I'm not so young and wanted a bright screen. Mac M1 Air gives 400 nits; my older Mac used to give 500 nits I believe and to older eyes, BRIGHT display is really helpful. In all my reading of reviews nearly ALL of the lower cost 1080P monitors from companies with unfamiliar brand names said they did 250 nits of brightness but this one said 400. I figured, probably not true but on a black Friday sale at $79 I figured, how could I possibly really go wrong? Well, it came, and it seems pretty close to the Mac display on brightness - huge relief. Then looking at the paperwork that comes with it, it is acknowledged as only 250 cd/m2; and yet, to my surprise, it seems plenty bright and acceptable for my needs. I would NOT think it's worth it to spend another $150 for a display that purports to give 4K as those are the ones that seem to promise more nits.

OVERALL I say for the price point, for the sharpness, for the ease of set up, for the cables it comes with, for the ease of use, for the seemingly solid feel to it all, and for a buyer looking for a VERY affordable option for a second "travel" display to bring with a laptop - I find it difficult to believe ANYONE could knock this thing or say it is not well worth it and quite good. A real "gem" of a find on Amazon in my view. I will update this review over time if and as I learn more or have more to note or if anything I say above changes.

Used it as a second monitor for my HP Laptop. It is a bit older so it does not have USB-C to provide both power and video, so I used my phone charger to power the monitor and the included mini HDMI to HDMI cord to plug into the HDMI out on my laptop. Excellent picture, tiny bezel, lightweight. Very thin. Nice integrated (but removable) cover. Cant believe this thing was less than $44! Highly recommended.

Overall great value, for the stated purpose of being a portable monitor

Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2025 · Color: Matte black · Verified Purchase

This is a review of two monitors:

MNN Portable Monitor 15.6inch FHD 1080P (no model number listed) M156F01 is marked on the box

Arzopa Portable Monitor, 15.6'' 1080P model number: “S1 Table”

I ordered the Arzopa monitor first, as kind of an impulse buy. I was going to be traveling and wanted to take my mini Ryzen 9 PC with me, but it had no monitor. I found the Arzopa monitor had good reviews and the price was right so I ordered. Then later I discovered it was a MATTE panel. I’m not sure how I missed that earlier, but I would NOT have ordered it if I knew that it was matte.

Matte finishes on monitors are supposed to be easier on eyes as the matte surface supposedly reduces glare. But in my experience, there is a problem with this feature. First, any monitor positioned properly should never have a problem with glare. For example, you don’t position a monitor facing a large window or another source of strong light. If your monitor is positioned correctly, glare should not be a possible problem to be solved. Second, the matte finish on most monitors I have seen tends to greatly distort the picture quality. Imagine you are standing outside at noon, but the area you are in is foggy. The view you have of your surroundings (through a light fog) is similar to the picture quality of any matte finish monitor. At least, in my experience.

I was sitting in front of my two large (not portable) monitors, thinking about the mistake I made in ordering a matte finish portable monitor. And I realized…I was so used to using dual monitors that I would really want two monitors for travel, also.

I read some reviews of the MNN monitor and someone described it as a GLOSSY panel. Perfect. I decided to order the MNN to use as my “primary” travel monitor with the Arzopa to be used as my “second” monitor for a dual monitor setup while traveling. That led to mistake number 2. They are both matte finish. When I realized this, they had both shipped. And they were delivered very quickly , both arriving on the same day.

I decided to give these monitors a try, and I’m glad I did. While they are both described officially as “matte”, the picture qualify is closer to what I would expect from a true “glossy” surface computer monitor. And they both have much more than acceptable image quality.

    So to compare them:

    FEATURES:

Their features are identical other than their physical controls. For adjusting these monitors, there is a difference between them, and I PREFER one over the other, as far as controls go.

Arzopa has multi-function push buttons on the left to adjust settings like brightness/contrast.

MNN has push-buttons and a teeny tiny joystick on the right to adjust settings like brightness/contrast. I think this is an odd design decision for a -portable- monitor.

The Arzopa controls are both more intuitive and (I believe) probably more sturdy / more likely to be reliable over time. We’ll see if the tiny joystick of the MNN survives a few trips bouncing around in my checked bags.

    DISPLAY QUALITY

I was very pleasantly surprised by the image quality of both of these monitors. I would rate them both a solid 9/10 on image quality. I’ve seen better, but only with OLED panels. Between the two if I had to pick a winner for image quality it would be the MNN. But the difference is so slight. I think they both deserve a “9”. While I can tell they are both matte (and I do not like that) the matte finish of these monitors is not as “foggy” as most matte monitors. It’s not matte enough to detract from the overall image quality, which is great.

The factory settings of both monitors had the brightness (black lefel) set too high. Brightness is what controls how “black” black items will appear. If the Brightness is set too high, then something which should be color black will appear to be gray or (worse) even light gray. After I turned down the brightness a bit on both monitors, the black level of both was very satisfying.

Speakers: I would never try to use speakers on a portable monitor, so I can’t comment on this. I don’t think the Arzopa even has speakers, but it doesn’t matter, as I would not use those.

    STAND:

They have virtually identical magnetically attached pleather stands that can be used to support the monitors in vertical or horizontal orientation. The magnets on both are pretty weak. However, it should be adequate for use on a solid desk or table. You might not be happy on an airplane if you hit turbulence at all.

    Summary and suggestion for improvement:

I would give both of these a 4-star rating on the Amazon scale. To earn a 5-star rating I would suggest:

    1) Replace the magnetic stand with something that attaches to the monitor more firmly.

    2) Include a USB-C cable with a right-angle connector on one end. For dual monitor use, these both have cables sticking out the left side. If you want to set them side by side, you need to keep them about 2” apart, because the cables interfere with setting them close together, like you want to. The most obvious solution would be a right-angle USB-C cable. I have ordered one. But it would cost nothing for Arzopa and MNN to include this.

    3) Make the above changes without increasing the price. If you could do that, I would rate these monitors a solid 5/5. There are better monitors for sale. But for the stated purpose and price? These are close to what I would want. Very close.

FINAL THOUGHT: (Which One Should I Buy?)

There are many portable monitors available with plenty of options in the same relative price range. The two I am reviewing here are a couple of the most highly rated. If you are trying to choose between these two specific monitors, I would recommend you buy the Arzopa. While the MNN has slightly better image quality, they both have really good image quality. I think the design of the Arzopa is just a bit more appropriate for the stated purpose of being portable. If you are leaning toward the MNN however, I would not discourage you from buying it. If you’ve narrowed down your decision to these two specific monitors, I don’t think you can possibly choose “wrong” if you buy only one of them. They both exceeded my expectations.
