I love this thing!
Pushups have been one of the mainstays of my workouts for the last 30 years, along with traditional weight training. About two years ago, I saw this pushup board and figured I’d give it a try. I can genuinely say it has made a huge difference in my upper-body workouts, and at 51, I’m in the best shape of my life.
For the past two years, my workouts have consisted mostly of bodyweight exercises, with minimal free weights, primarily for arms and my lower-body. Between this pushup board and pullups, I can finally say that I’m genuinely happy with my physique.
I’m 6 feet tall and weighed around 180 lbs for roughly 15 years. With a good diet and consistent training, I’m now up to about 200 lbs, and I feel more confident going shirtless at the beach than I have in years.
One of the biggest reasons this board works so well for me is that I prefer working out at home. There are a lot of reasons for that:
I’m not a fan of the current gym culture of people constantly filming themselves and sometimes acting like they own the place.
I tend to feel more self-conscious working out at a gym.
At home, I never have to wait for someone else to finish using something, except occasionally my teenager.
On the flip side, I never have someone standing around waiting for me to finish.
I can work out for as long as I want without wondering whether everything is okay at home.
I get to play with my awesome dogs between sets, which they seem to consider an important part of the workout.
And when the weather is nice, I can work out in my backyard, enjoy the fresh air, and work on my tan at the same time.
As far as the quality goes, I’ve been really impressed. I’m definitely not gentle with this thing. Mine gets left outside all the time and has spent the last two years being exposed to Southern California sunshine, rain, and whatever else the weather throws at it. Despite that, it’s still holding up great. Considering how much I use it and how little I baby it, I think that says a lot about the durability.
The resistance bands that come with it have also turned out to be much more useful than I expected. I originally bought this for the pushup board, but I regularly use the bands for different arm exercises as well. Between the board and the bands, you can get a surprisingly complete upper-body workout from a piece of equipment that takes up almost no space.
The board itself has become a permanent part of my routine. I like being able to quickly change hand positions and target different areas of my upper body without needing a bunch of equipment. It also gives me a consistent hand position and grip, which I prefer to doing every variation directly on the ground.
After using it regularly for about two years, this isn’t something I bought, used for a few weeks, and then tossed into a closet. I still use it all the time. For something so simple, portable, and relatively inexpensive, I’ve gotten an incredible amount of use out of it.
If you enjoy bodyweight training, prefer working out at home, or just want to add more variety to your pushups, I absolutely recommend giving it a try. After two years, mine is still going strong and it remains one of my favorite pieces of workout equipment.
