First thing I did was try on the shirt(s) -- I bought two (purple and blue). Then I tossed them in the washer on the quick wash setting (warm water) and dried them on regular heat. I had wanted to find out two things: would they shrink and would they bleed the color. Do they shrink? Yes, but only slightly. I'm female and worried that the bottom of the shirt wouldn't go over my hips but it does -- now just barely due to the minor shrinking. Does the color bleed? The blue one: no. The purple one: YES. I used Color Guard sheets in the wash tub and quite a bit of the purple was captured. I'm not happy that the color disappeared in the front center neckline. It looks like I spilled something on it, like maybe bleach. That didn't happen with the blue one. I realize vintage washed is a feature, not a flaw, but the centering and somewhat larger white part on the purple shirt's neckline looks like a flaw without being one.
Why I was attracted to men's shirts: The sleeves are the length I wanted and I figured the whole shirt would be roomy. They really aren't roomy but they fit (I got large and wear an extra large in women's t-shirts). I'm not crazy about the fabric. It's not harsh but it isn't what I'd call soft either. I'll keep the shirts but won't be buying any more. I received a woman's t-shirt in the same shipment and it's much nicer so I'll be going back and ordering more of that style instead.
