Camera works well. Little laggy sometimes, but very clear even in the dark. Mic is great. Picks up pretty much all sounds in our home
What I HATE about this camera is the app. First, it doesn't let you set up the app, which you need to use the monitor, without your credit card info for the free trial of their upgraded "features." Then you have to go in and unsubscribe so you don't get charged more money after already spending $300 on a camera.
The app is so cluttered with options that all require you to buy extra services or equipment and there's no way to get rid of it from your home screen. Their insights feature, which is part of the subscription, is just ai generated crap. It tells you last time baby fell asleep or was attended to, but it's almost always wrong so it's useless anyway. Now that my subscription is up, it still keeps more clutter on my screen by asking me to resubscribe
The WORST part is that it has a memories section, that plays back videos from the camera. As if there's any memorable moments of my baby asleep in her crib. Again, it's just ai generated like "first time baby slept through the night," but again it's not accurate at all. And I breastfeed so majority of the time I'm putting baby down, I'm some form of topless. Not really comfortable with the idea of all that video getting recorded and saved on some ai server somewhere. Plus it records it all, but doesn't let you view recordings unless, you guessed it, pay for their subscription service. Awful.
The options it does have free don't work very well. A big functional issue is the app crashes all the time. I'll have notifications on to alert me to movement or background noise on, which lets you hear without having the video on, but it randomly stops working all the time. So not hearing any sounds or notifications, I think my baby is sleeping peacefully, but it turns out she's crying and I was just lulled into a false sense of security. Horrifying feeling as a parent. I end up having to just keep the video and sound on my phone most of the time, which drains all the battery. Or just constantly keep checking that the sound is still working. Not the peace of mind you want from a baby monitor
It also has a temperature feature, which would be great in the summer because we don't have ac and I worry about it getting too hot. Problem is, it always reads like 20° hotter than it is because the camera gets so hot. Imagine my horror when I get alerts the room is 102°, but when I go to check, my wall thermostat says it's only 80°. This has the opposite effect in the colder months. If I was going off my camera thermostat, I'd think it's a pleasant 78° all the time, when it could actually have dropped in the 50°s. So not only another useless feature, but a potentially dangerous one as well.
So overall, happy with the hardware, but hate the software. Wouldn't have bought it if I knew how predatory and dysfunctional it would be
