My Background:
I'm a certified mechanic with 31 years in the auto industry. I bought these bulbs to replace the 12,500 lumen (6,250 per bulb) Alla H11 LEDs I installed two years ago, believing the extra 17,500 lumens per pair on these Fahrens would make a difference. It didn't, none whatsoever.
Tools Used:
Multimeter (voltage testing)
Sekonic L-308X-U Lux Meter (real-world lumens testing)
Duracell 800W AC/DC Inverter (testing power source)
3 out of 4 Defective Bulbs:
I ordered 2x packs of H11s, for a total of four bulbs to install on my 2014 Camaro SS (lows & fogs). I installed the first bulb (low beam) and it began flickering instantly. Hmm, ok. I grabbed my multimeter and tested the voltage, no problem there, 12.4V. I popped it out and then tried the second bulb, same thing. Tried a third bulb and it was fine. I moved to the other side of the car and tried the fourth bulb, it flickered too!
See the video. Not the most obvious because the glare overpowered the camera on my phone. Watch for the flicker on the left bulb (Fahren). It is obvious and continual. You will also notice that there is virtually no visual difference between the left (Fahren "15,000 lumen"), and right (Alla 6,250 lumen) bulbs, despite Fahren's claim of an extra 8,750 lumens.
At this point, I made a more in-depth check of the voltage at the bulbs and of the battery & alternator, but the voltage was perfect in each case, 12.4V +/-0.2V with the engine off. There were no voltage drops, spikes or noise in the lines. At idle and under full load (A/C & aftermarket amp/subs both running wide open) the voltage was 13.6V +/- 0.2. The new alternator and battery were doing their jobs admirably.
At this point, it's obviously a driver issue in the bulbs and a quality control issue with this company. Three out of four defective bulbs in a single purchase is simply unacceptable! I will be returning these bulbs for a full refund based on this alone.
Not 30,000 Lumens As Described:
Lastly, I left the one working Fahren bulb installed on the passenger side and the Alla bulb on the driver. Visually, there was no discernable difference between the brightness of the two, not when standing in front of the vehicle and not when viewing downroad...even though Fahren claims 15,000 lumens with this bulb (30k/pair) vs. Alla's 6,250 lumens (12.5k/pair).
I decided to test both bulbs, Alla and Fahren, to see how close each are to their advertised ratings using my lux meter. I connected both bulbs to an inverted power source to ensure that power draw was a non-issue. I then set up a testing environment (lots of cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil) aiming to capture as much light as possible from both bulbs. As a control, I tested the setup against an 11W (75W equiv.) LED bulb from my table lamp rated at 1,100 lumens. It measured 1,079 lumens, or within 2% of its advertised rating. So my cardboard/aluminum foil testbed is pretty spot-on. Next, I hit each headlight bulb with my lux meter...
The Results:
The Alla H11 LED measured 5,822 lumens...impressively close, well within 7% of advertised lumens, even after two years of continual use (2014 Camaro SS w/ daytime running lights).
Fahren Termitor H11 LED measured 6,649 lumens...a far cry from their advertised 15,000 lumens per bulb. The one and only working bulb out of the four I ordered measured a full 56% BELOW its advertised rating new, out of the box.
Conclusion:
These bulbs are junk. There's simply no nice way to put it. The quality control is virtually non-existent, so getting a working bulb that lasts is certainly going to be a craps shoot for anyone who purchases them. If you order & install them, if one flickers even once, return it immediately!
Furthermore, I don't know what testing method this company uses to rate its bulbs, but their lumen rating does NOT match real-world application. No even close! A lux meter is simple incapable of lying (unlike marketing "gurus").
This leads to the conclusion that there several companies that advertise closer to real-world lumen output and cost HALF as much as these Fahren Termitors.
My advise would be to spend your money elsewhere.
