Easy to install! If you can download, you can install this system!! The rest is drill and screws!!
The Wireless Solar Security System arrived in one day, was well packaged, and undamaged. We have thought about getting a camera system for over 11 years. The price was right with some additional incentives and we had ourselves a security system!
It took my husband and I about 2 hours and fifteen minutes to install the system. The booklet directions are a little confusing when you are just reading them, but once you get to the Home Base, you will be able to navigate the set up through the home base. I handled all the technology and my husband installed all the panels and cameras. We have been having issues with one of the cameras that kept reading "out of range". I figured out that it was set up within the range, however, this location the signal had to pass through 3 walls. We eventually had to move that particular camera to a closer location. My suggestion would be to get all your cameras within the range and then decide where you will put them.
There are three ways to connect this system. We chose the monitor (Living Room TV) method. The home base plugs directly into the TV and you utilize the Wi-Fi that way. The cameras come with enough charge on them to get you started. The solar panels are extremely light! I was very surprised. The cameras actually feel heavier than the panels! The mounts come with drywall screws, but since we were installing these outdoors, my husband tossed the thin drywall screws (with the plastic caps) that were provided and used some heavy duty drywall screws and screwed directly into our siding. The installation for the panels and the cameras is just a matter of screwing down the mounts and screwing the panels and the cameras into the mounts and then attaching the USB cable from the panel to the camera. There is plenty of extra wire in case you need to mount the pieces farther away from each other to get maximum sunlight for the panels.
Setting up the home base is very simple. The kit comes with a mouse and I plugged the mouse directly into the home base and I could navigate the commands on the TV Screen. I am not very tech savvy and the home base was easy. I don't really use the app much. Since we had one camera prior to these, my husband was already somewhat familiar with how security camera apps work so there was not much difference. You can zoom in on each individual camera, speak through an intercom through any of the cameras, and blast an alarm from your phone. The camera saves any human body detection and tracks all human body detection. You can set the level of notifications to your preferences of what you want to be notified about. The cameras are so easy to adjust. They attach to the mount on a ball joint and that makes them simple to adjust. We live in the South and see our share of thunderstorms. As far as the durability of this equipment, I will have to wait and see what happens to them in the first thunderstorm. If I don't make a follow-up comment, that means that they weathered the storms well. I am very happy that we did not spend outrageous amounts of money a few years ago when home security became all the rage. With the special that amazon was running and a rebate I got from American Express, I ended up paying only $150 for this security system and that makes me even happier!! The best part is there are no monthly fees. The system comes with built in storage space, however, you must be vigilant with your deletions so that you do not fill up your storage and they manfuacturer starts charging fees.
So far, this system fits our lifestyle and was easy to install and use. I am curious to see how long the panels and rechargeable batteries last. The manufacturer gives a 1 year warranty. They better last for longer than that.
Overall, I would say that this is a system perfect for people who want to keep it nice and simple with worry-free use.
